ID cards holder is required to hold on to the card. They are also referred as the case. You would have seem mainly 2 Id cards in use in India. First one is where it is strapped to the neck with the help of lanyards. Second option which is widely used these days is the round badge reels, these badge reels are struck to the trouser or the belt.
Let us start with the first one. The standard size of the ID card is 86x54 mm i.e. 8.6x5.4 mm. School ID cards are smaller which is generally 48x72 mm. ID cards for school & colleges have customized printed holder with option to stick in the student details. School & Colleges, order for these holders in bulk quantity and as per requirement individual names are printed and pasted in the premise itself. There are lots and lots of designs available for these holder to choose from.
There are option for two sided sticky ID cards holders and single side as well. They have smooth finish and with high strength. Lanyard is either separate printed with school and college details or there is option nowadays where lanyard is directly attached to the holder. Customized options are available with the open faced ID card holder as well.
For corporate we have something called corporate ID card which are 86x54 mm i.e. Standard size. You can also check if any printers is interested in printing custom size cards. Corporate card holder can be with or without printing. You can customize the complete holder as per your company color guidelines, with logo and other details. Most economical option which is there is plastic/vinyl badge holder which is thin sheet. This is cheaper option which can be bought from almost any stationery shops. This is normally used for paper type of cards. You would have seen them being used as 'GUEST', 'VISITOR', 'VIP' tag cards. These plastic slip on are for temporary use only and should not be considered if you are looking for daily wear cards.
You may be wondering why there is need of these holders at the very first place. The reason being that there are many ID cards which are SMART cards and Proximity cards, once these are folded their internal technology can be ruined. Even accidental wear and tear, folding can be prevented by using good quality thick holders. The option which you should be looking towards is hard plastic ID card holder. These comes in transparent and variety of readily common colors. Your card is well protected inside them. This is not an expensive option they retail at Rs 3/- to Rs 20/- per holder. For customized color and printing on these thick holder you would require a minimum order quantity of 1000 pcs.
One of the most interesting type of badge holders which is making noise is Shielded card holder. As name suggest they are here to shield you, but shield against what. Skimming is not a thing of the past, it is a nuisance which companies has to deal with these days. Skimming means accessing the information of the card holder without authorization. Think about it you sipping a cup of coffee with your office mate in Barista and some one stealing information from the card without even touching it. These shielded holder prevent all form of threats like Skimming, but boy they come at a cost for that. These can be attached with strap clips, lanyards or reels.
Its turn to discuss Badge reels now. They are mainly round & are seen as alternative to holders. Plastic or metal housing contain reel and curled wire. It adds to the convenience, your employees need not have to carry lanyards all the time across their neck. These are retractable and can be used easily for scanning or swiping as they can extend upto 60 cm i.e. 2 feet and snap back to place when you let it go. We have option of reels with and without branding. Colored badge and metallic badge reels is good solution for long term frequent usage.
